Tooth Extraction

What is a tooth extraction?

An extraction is the removal of a tooth.

Why do I need an extraction?

There are several reasons why a tooth needs to be extracted.  If you have:

  • A tooth so badly damaged or decayed that it cannot be effectively restored with root canal treatment, crown or filling.

  • The tooth or periodontal (gum) infection has destroyed a large portion of the tooths supporting bone structure.

  • There are too many teeth to fit properly in the mouth, resulting in crowding of the teeth.

  • Orthodontist requested extractions.

  • A baby tooth won't shed normally.
